Colonoscopy is a procedure used to view inside the colon and rectum to detect abnormalities, such as inflamed tissues and ulcers. Colonoscopy allows physicians to identify early signs of colorectal cancer and can help diagnose unexplained changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, bleeding from the anus, and even weight loss.
Problems with your colon, rectum, and anus can cause immense discomfort, and discussing this problem with your doctor can be an even more uncomfortable experience. However, as colon cancer is among the nation’s leading diseases, early diagnosis and treatment is important. The physicians at St. Catherine’s are readily available to help you through the process, and will do so in confidence. Your peace of mind is the first concern.
