Tal Mednick, MD, Joins Neurology Practice
Tal Mednick, MD, American board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology has joined St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center’s Neurology practice.
Dr. Mednick earned her medical degree from the Ross University School of Medicine, followed by a preliminary medicine program at New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center. She then completed her residency in neurology at SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Brown/Alpert School of Medicine, Rhode Island Hospital.
Prior to completing her medical degree, Dr. Mednick was a nurse for more than five years, where she worked in a variety of areas, including, medical/surgical, telemetry, bariatrics, orthopedics, inpatient hospice and the emergency department.
“I have always been very interested in neurology—and was introduced to the specialization as a nurse,” said Dr. Mednick, when asked about what brought her to the field of neurology. “I enjoy how dynamic neurology is, and the ability to localize a patient’s diagnosis. Additionally, there is so much research potential and discovery—and I want to be a part of the change that will soon come.”
Dr. Mednick specializes in diagnosing, treating and managing disorders, diseases and injuries of the nervous system. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and brings her expertise of research with her to the practice. She has partnered with the Long Island Jewish Hospital at New Hyde Park’s division of Nuclear Medicine to research parathyroid imaging accuracy, presented for the Association of Serum Ferritin with Parkinsonian Disorders and has been published in the Journal of Clinical Neuromuscular Disease.
Dr. Mednick resides in West Islip with her husband Ian and her five month old daughter Ariella.
