The Nuclear Medicine section of our department offers diagnostic testing as well as Radiopharmaceutical Therapy. This section of the department is equipped with State-Of-The-Art gamma cameras and a computer system with SPECT capabilities. SPECT testing is used when imaging the function of the heart after a patient has a stress test or for cross sectional imaging of bone metabolism or infection localization. All Nuclear Medicine procedures utilize Radioisotope Imaging. The tracer dose of the radiopharmaceuticals is flushed from the system, typically by the next day. Patients referred for Radiopharmaceutical Therapy or Radiation Therapy meet with a Radiologist and/or a Radiation Oncologist for an evaluation and explanation of the planned treatment.
