Thomas J. Spellman, Jr., Appointed
Secretary, Board of Trustees, St. Catherine’s
Smithtown, NY – St. Catherine of Siena
Medical Center recently appointed Thomas J. Spellman, Jr.,
as Secretary of its Board of Trustees. Mr. Spellman has been
a dedicated member of the Board, since 2003.
A native New Yorker, Mr. Spellman graduated from Fordham
University Law School in 1965. He has 40 years of legal experience
and trial practice. During his career as an attorney, Mr.
Spellman has tried a variety of cases in both the State and
Federal Courts. He has argued appeals in New York’s
highest court and in the Federal Court of Appeals.

Committee of the Board of Trustees at St. Catherine’s.
As St. Catherine’s continues to grow and increase its
services we will continue to demonstrate the ethics and professional
standards for which St. Catherine’s is known. We are
committed to providing excellent health care services to the
entire community,” he added.
He has been a partner at Devitt Spellman Barrett, LLP, located
in Smithtown, NY, since 1976. Among his numerous professional
associations, he is a member of the New York State Bar Association,
New York State Trial Lawyers Association, past-president of
the Suffolk County Bar Association and Fellow of the American
Bar Foundation and New York Bar Foundation.
Mr. Spellman is actively involved in serving the community.
He has lectured extensively to the New York Bar Association
on legal ethics and trial techniques, and is a lector and
Eucharistic Minister at Sts. Philip and James Parish, St.
James.
