St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center’s Nursing Staff Raises $6,000 for Angela’s House
St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center’s Nursing Staff hosted
a successful fundraiser throughout the hospital during National
Nurse’s Week in May, and raised $6,000 for Angela’s
House, on Brooksite Drive, Hauppauge. Angela’s House
is a home for medically frail children with severe disabilities
and offers 24 hour nursing support. For weeks before National
Nurse’s Week, the Nursing Staff at St. Catherine’s
gathered a variety of donated items and prepared valuable,
creatively decorated themed raffle baskets, which grabbed
the attention of staff and visitors of the hospital. With
raffle tickets in hand and exciting prizes to sell, their
hard work and ticket sales paid off.
“We know how important Angela’s House is to the
children, their families and the community. The vision of
Bob and Angie Policastro is inspirational and we want to support
them in their mission and future goals. It is our privilege
to present them with this check for $6,000,” said Gara
Edelstein, RN, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.
Angela’s House relies on private donations to ease
the financial burdens of the families, provide medical supplies,
therapeutic equipment and more. “ We are thankful for
the efforts of the Nursing Staff at St. Catherine’s.
They have touched so many lives with their donation and we
are so very grateful, ” said Bob Policastro, Executive
Director, Angela’s House.
