St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center Receives Platinum Award from Long Island Blood Services
St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, Smithtown, received
a Platinum Award from the Long Island Blood Services for their
success in increasing blood donations during 2005. A total
of 643 pints of blood were donated at St. Catherine’s
in 2005. The award was presented to Vincent DiRubbio, President
and CEO of St. Catherine’s, Ronald Weingartner, COO
and Lily Scarlett, Development Associate at a ceremony on
May 11th at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury. Mr. Edward
Travaglianti, President of Long Island Commerce Bank and Chair
of the Volunteer Leadership Team, and Dr. James Louie, Executive
Director of Long Island Blood Services presented the award.
St.
Catherine’s hosts three blood drives annually. The summer
blood drive is scheduled for Monday, August 21st, from 7am
to 9pm in The Medical Office Building Lower Level Conference
Rooms and the Nursing Home Activity Room. Community residents
and organizations are invited to participate and will be able
donate using their own donor group number. For more information
