St. Catherine of Siena Medical
Center’s Rockin’ Heart Rock-a-Thon
St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center’s Auxiliary will
hold its 3rd Annual Heart Rock Rock-a-Thon on Tuesday, March
21st, 9am to 5pm in the main lobby of the hospital. The Rock-a-Thon
is a fundraising event that will benefit the expansion and
renovation of St. Catherine’s Cardiac Catheterization
Laboratory. St. Catherine’s volunteers, employees, friends,
family and local community members are invited to participate.
The first Rock-a-Thon was held three years ago after Georgia
Preibe, Auxiliary President returned from a volunteer’s
convention in Albany with a unique fundraising idea. The idea
Ms. Preibe brought back from the trip has grown into the successful
fundraiser it is today. Participants of this event agree to
rock for 30 minute time periods in the lobby of the hospital
and just like a walk-a-thon, participant solicit pledges from
their family, friends and neighbors for the thirty minutes.
donations from their sponsors. Each contributor will be entered
into a drawing to win a rocking chair and will receive a complimentary
“Heart Rock” commemorative t-shirt.
“ This year, donations from the Rock-A-Thon will be
used to support a second
Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and expand the cardiac
outpatient admission, recovery and discharge facility to accommodate
the growing demand for these highly specialized services from
our community. Those services include diagnosing and treating
coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmias, and heart failure.
St. Catherine’s ability to provide these services will
enrich and broaden our community outreach educational and
prevention programs, and encourage early treatment of cardio-vascular
diseases, improving the quality of life in the community we
serve. We appreciate the efforts and support of our local
community in this event, ” said Vincent DiRubbio, President
and CEO.
Over 35 local elected officials, community members and St.
Catherine’s employees have registered for the Rock-a-Thon.
For registration information please call Georgia Priebe, Auxiliary
President, at (631) 862-3015.
