Siena Village is a 298- unit garden apartment complex situated on
thirty acres in suburban Smithtown, New York. It offers its 325 senior
(or younger physically disabled), low-income tenants, secure,
affordable housing in a supportive social environment.
Siena Village is federally subsidized under the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development's Housing Assistance
Program (HUD). Successful applicants must meet applicable HUD
guidelines regarding age and income. Siena Village is 100 percent
occupied at this time, with a substantial waiting list. Following HUD
rules, qualified applicants are offered apartments in order of their

Siena Village includes a spacious community center with auditorium,
lounge, library, card and craft rooms as well as management offices.
Two personal computers are available for the use of residents.
Regularly scheduled programs encourage healthful activities and foster
community spirit. Siena Village owns and operates a resident bus for
weekday shopping and other trips for residents. Siena Village's
maintenance staff manages routine repairs and care of buildings and
grounds, including repainting apartments and snow removal.
Siena Village does not offer direct assistance for activities of daily
living. However, many residents receive regular help from family
members, community service agencies and state and federal
programs. Staff includes a manager, maintenance department and
social work staff who provide crisis intervention, short term counseling
and referral service.
