Scott R. Capustin, MD, Joins St. Catherine of Siena’s Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders Program
Scott R. Capustin, MD, has joined the Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders Program affiliated with St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center—member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island (CHS). Dr. Capustin is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine.
Dr. Capustin earned his medical degree from New York Medical College, and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. He also completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at New York University—Bellevue and at the Manhattan VA Medical Center.
Dr. Capustin has been in private practice in the Smithtown community for close to 30 years. He brings his pulmonology expertise to St. Catherine of Siena and specializes in the following: ailments of the lungs and respiratory system, such as asthma, pneumonia, tuberculosis, complicated chest infections and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases including emphysema. He also specializes in sleep medicine.
In addition, Dr. Capustin will support the newly launched CHS Lung Cancer Screening Program. The program is a part of the American College of Radiology’s Lung Cancer Screening Registry, and the initiative offers low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening to those at high risk of developing lung cancer. LDCT screening, compared to standard chest X-ray, has been proven effective in detecting lung cancer at its earliest, most treatable stages.
