Special Deliveries with Elf Claire
Mother Theresa said, “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.” With the generous support of Al’s Angels, Catholic Health Services (CHS) and St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, have responded to this call of meaningful duty, and are motivated to feed not just one, but many on Long Island.
CHS has been working with Al’s Angels for many years to help distribute food to those in need across Long Island. This year, the organization provided 50 bins filled with groceries to prepare holiday meals. Al’s Angels’ mission is to provide moments of joy and comfort to families that are challenged by childhood cancer, rare blood diseases, AIDS, domestic violence and financial hardship. The food deliveries were facilitated by St. Catherine’s Community Outreach Coordinator Mary Ellen McCrossen, St. Catherine’s Hospitalist and Intensivist Practice Manager Corey Gallagher, along with a St. Catherine’s well known and rather helpful elf, Claire. The busy trio have delivered the food bins to food pantries at St. Anthony Padua in Northport, St. Philip Neri in East Northport, St. Joseph in Kings Park, St. Patrick’s in Smithtown, St. Joseph’s in Ronkonkoma and St. James in Setauket. The food will be distributed to those in need by each parish.
