St. Catherine of Siena Supports Smithtown’s Rotary Road Rally
On your mark, get set, and get racing! These words marked the start for 23 cars participating in the 5th Annual Smithtown Rotary Road Rally held on Saturday, May 17, 2014. The timed Road Rally commenced in Port Jefferson and racers had to make their way through Smithtown, Head of the Harbor, Poquott, Nissequogue, North Port and Kings Park, with a finish line back in Port Jefferson. Participants had to complete tasks at various checkpoints along the way before proceeding to the next town, including activities, such as grabbing sand from a beach and even taking a “selfie” in a targeted location.
“It was stressful, it felt like we were in the Amazing Race—but it was lots of fun and we were happy to be a part of it,” said St. Catherine’s Director of Public and External Affairs Heather Reynolds.
The Smithtown Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace worldwide. In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.
