The Cancer Care Unit at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center provides in-patient and out-patient care to oncology patients in all phases of the treatment process. It is staffed by specially trained professional nurses who work in conjunction with the medical staff. The unit offers hematology and oncology services tailored to each patient's special needs.
The Cancer Care Unit is open 7 days a week, 24 hours per day. Patients and families have access to call the unit directly either during hospitalization or after discharge.
Oncology care at St. Catherine of Siena is based on a multidisciplinary approach to treatment in which patients and their families are the focus of care by St. Catherine’s team of nurses, physicians, pastoral counselors, nutritionists, social workers and volunteers, who work together for the good of the patient.
This team approach addresses physical, spiritual, emotional and social needs, consisting of inpatient care, coordinated home care, education, support groups and bereavement care.
